HTF Candles

Up to four higher timeframes rendered as mini-candles next to price, each running the same core pattern engine as the main chart.

Artemis Pro renders up to four higher timeframes as groups of mini-candles to the right of price, each running the same core pattern engine as the main chart. This page covers how the slots are configured, how to read the mini-candles, and where the HTF engine deliberately differs from the main chart.

What You See

To the right of the last bar, each enabled slot draws a compact group of candles from its timeframe — oldest on the left, the current still-forming candle on the right. Slot 1 sits closest to price, slot 4 furthest out. A slot only draws when its timeframe is actually higher than your chart timeframe.

The mini-candles speak the same visual language as the main chart: bullish candles in neon green, bearish candles in neon red, indecisive candles with the contrasting body fill, and signal candles painted in their signature colors with compact labels. If an Evening Star is completing on the 1H while you trade the 5m, you see it forming at the edge of your chart without switching timeframes.

The example above was captured on an earlier build and shows ES alongside the retired BRK and R labels. The way you read the groups is unchanged — the current HTF labels are MS, ES, TLS, HK, 3WS, 3BC, PL, TOD, and , with Bump and Run remaining chart-timeframe only. Use the for the current abbreviations.

Reading The Example

  • Treat each group as its own timeframe. The four groups are independent snapshots, not one continuous sequence of candles across the page.
  • Read within a group from left to right. The rightmost candle is the current candle for that slot and can still change until its higher-timeframe period closes.
  • ES marks an Evening Star. Its orange signature color distinguishes the pattern candle from the surrounding trend-colored candles.
  • Black and light-gray bodies indicate indecision. Their borders and wicks preserve the active green or red trend context, exactly as they do on the main chart.

The visual size of a slot is configurable and does not change its timeframe or signal quality. Use size and offset only to keep the groups readable and separated from live price.

The same engine also feeds the HTF Info Table, so the signal column there always matches the newest mini-candle of that slot.

On a 1-minute chart, consider 5m / 15m / 1H in the first three slots. The defaults are tuned for the 5-minute chart.

Where The HTF Engine Differs From The Main Chart

The mini-candles reuse the core pattern engine, but with three deliberate reductions. Be aware of them before you weight an HTF label as heavily as a main-chart label:

  • No Bump and Run detection. The HTF engine covers 11 of the 12 signal types (9 of the 10 patterns); BnR fires on the chart timeframe only.
  • Star patterns skip the symmetry filter. A morning or evening star can label on a mini-candle that the main chart's Max Asymmetry filter would have rejected.
  • Three White Soldiers and Three Black Crows run a reduced variant. The mini-candles check only bodies and progressive closes, with the direction of the candle before the sequence standing in for the SSL trend context — no wick filter, no ATR floor. Expect more HTF 3WS/3BC labels than the main chart would allow.

Treat HTF labels as hints that something is worth a look, not as full-quality signals. When a mini-candle shows a pattern you care about, switch to that timeframe and read the full chart before acting.

Repaint Behavior

Mini-candles are a heads-up display, redrawn on every tick of the last bar. The rightmost candle of each group is the current, still-forming HTF candle, so its color and label can change until that candle closes — this is cosmetic redrawing of the display, not a change to any closed bar. HTF pattern states are also not part of the 15 data-window series, which are computed on the chart timeframe only.
